Whether you like to get your brows waxed, tweezed, or threaded we are all faced with the dreadful state of our brows inbetween visits.  Well, here is an option to clean up those brows in no time.  I love this option as I get older because my eye sight isn't what it use to be, and lets face it the lighting in most bathrooms are pretty horrible.

Exfoliator That Hydrates, Brightens & Soothes

When your skin has a build up of dead skin cells it prevents your moisturizer from working effectively.  This is why after applying moisturizer in about an hour your skin feels like you put nothing on.  Maybe you see a peeling, or rolling of dead skin cells, or perhaps some discoloration is present.  Well let me tell you about a product I'm crushing on that was recently introduced to me by Dermalogica Educator Beth Kennerson that addresses all these issues.

dermalogica daily resurfacer.jpg

Dermalogica Daily Resurfer
This is dual physical and chemical leave on exfoliating treatment that also hydrates, brightens and soothes the skin.  Beta and Alpha Hydroxy acids with enzymes exfoliates those dead skin cells.  When your moisturizer doesn't have to fight through dead skin cells and can actually penetrate into the skin you benefit by not seeing fine lines form prematurely.  Hyaluronic Acid and Eelgrass are humectants that help the skin retain moisture thereby reducing the appearance of fine lines.  Rice Extract, Rooibos and Green teas help even out and brighten the skin tone.

There is a slit in the pad so you can place it over your finger then apply in circular motions all over the face.  It's non-sticky so it won't interfere with other products and is also fragrance free.  Price is $68.00 with 35 doses  Available at Dermalogica, and Ulta.

Liquid Eye Liner With a Twist

Sometimes changing a product or how you use it can bring about a simple change in your look.  A simple change was what I stumbled onto when I decided to give the Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner a try.  The end result…BAMM!!!

stila liquid liner.jpg

Stila Sparkle Waterproof  Liquid Eyeliner
Liquid eyeliner has been around for some time, but this liquid eyeliner contains glitter.  The glitter changes what use to be standard liquid eyeliner to now liquid eyeliner with extra pop.  There is an array of colors to choose from, but my favorites are sequins-sparkling black, electric-sparkling bright green and curacao- sparkling violet blue which is to die for!!!  Price: $22.00 Available at Stila, Sephora, Ulta and other fine department stores.

A Lip Gloss With Great Coverage

Since wearing a nude glossy lip arrived on the scene, it was a trend I wanted to try.  Unfortunately because I have a two toned lip dark on the top and light on the bottom, it was something I couldn’t do.  Most lip glosses were to sheer to sport the look like I wanted until now.  Inglot a cosmetic company out of Poland has created AMC Lip Paints that finally allow me to wear a nude lip. The lip paint is pigmented enough to give great coverage, but also has some wonderful skincare properties.  Its smoothing and repairing formulation moisturizes, repairs and stimulates collagen production.

A quick way to re-hydrate is adding a gel mask to your regime during the winter/spring season. A gel mask will cool, sooth and infuse the skin with water leaving the skin plump, and soft as a baby’s bottom. Here are a few gel masks that I love working with.

What Is Your Liner Brush Precision, Bent or Angled?

There are quite a few eye liner brushes out there, and many consumers don’t always know what type of brush to use for a specific desired effect.  So, take a look at a few eye liner brushes I like to use along with the type of liner effect each brush can create.

If by mid-day you look like you’ve gone a couple of rounds with a professional boxer because your eyeliner smudged then your worries are over.   Both of these gel liners are water-proof, smudge and fade proof.  Each product has to be applied quickly because once it’s dry it’s hard to correct any mistakes without the use of makeup remover and a Q-tip.

A Blush Perfect For Oily Skin

Tarte Cosmetics, an eco-friendly cosmetic line, is bringing the ingredient Amazonian clay to new heights!  Amazonian clay’s high nutrient concentration gathers at the basin of the Amazon River. The sun bakes the clay, sealing in the nutrients. It is then milled into a fine powder and infused into products.  This ingredient has the ability to remove surface oil to mattify skin, nourish all skin types and reduce the appearance of dryness and flakiness. It gives skin an overall smooth, even appearance and improves the appearance of skin clarity and texture. It also hydrates dry skin.

Spring 2010 Nail Color

This is the time of year I head into the stores to shop for my spring/summer nail collection. Most of the time I do my own nails 15-20 minutes before I leave the house, so I usually lean towards the OPI brand because I find their formulation to be quick drying. From time to time I will venture out to other brands if I think the color rocks!   Here are five colors that have inspired me for this season. Brand and color are listed in order from my pinky to my thumb along with two other shades I can’t wait to try.

The Best Bronzer & Application Tips

As we transition into spring many of us want to leave the pasty fairness of winter behind. Now mind you, a nice bronze glow can give a more healthy appearance to the skin, but only if the tone is bronze not orange.

The bronzer that has stood the test of time for me is  This is a bronzer that looks great on a wide range of skin tones from fair to dark.  Price: $33.00

A Japanese Mini Eye Lash Curler

I have found that even when using my favorite lash curler shu uemura, depending on the eye shape I can’t always reach all the lashes.  This challenge is especially true for the lashes at the inner and outer corners.  If you suffer from the same fate then suffer no more.

preo_eyelash_curler_productfull.jpg

Preo/Prima Curl Up Japanese Mini EyeLash Curler
What I like about this lash curler compared to other mini lash curlers is it gives a smoother bend to the lashes. This lash curler is for the inner and outer corners, across the entire lash line, on bottom lashes and is ideal for anyone with short lashes.  The unique design of the cage will give a fabulous natural curl to the lashes.  Made of durable stainless steel.  Always work with the pad under the lashes.Replace pad every 3 months.  Always curl lashes before mascara application to avoid breakage.  Work with small sections at a time across the lash line, or in specific areas if desired.  With your lashes between the lash curler apply pressure to the top and bottom handle. The availability of this lash curler does change from time to time, but is currently available at  Amazon  for $25.00 and  comes with 6 refill pads.

Spring 2010 Looks & Trends

With spring here and summer around the corner, we welcome the opportunity to shed the dark layers of winter.

One of my favorite trends this season is denim short shorts.  When paired with soft, relaxed fabrics, it lends itself to a no-nonsense look.  Here the look is complimented by a nude, minimalistic eye which is making a comeback.

erin-breen.jpg

Shimmer products will be a main staple since they can be worn on the lip, face, eyes and cheeks.  Must-have colors for the lips are beige, naturals and red.  Coral is another hot color for the lips and a great alternative for those not comfortable with red.  For the eyes lilac, pink, coral and earth tones should be added to your collection as well as turquoise eyeliner.  Turquoise will bring a surprising freshness to the earth tones. Erin' look: Lorac Oil-Free Luminizer in Bronze mixed with the foundation.  Other products from Sonia Roselli Studio are oil-free liquid foundation in vanilla cream, Bisque and Gold Minx eye shadow, Elizabeth Blush and Rochelle Lipstick.

A Makeup Brush For Looking Airbrushed

One of the ways I like to improve on my technique is through the use of tools, so every year I add something new to my makeup toolbox.  My newest addition is the stipple foundation brush by Sonia Roselli.  This brush is similar to the Kabuki brush used for applying bronzer, but is smaller and designed for the application of foundation.  The synthetic nylon hairs have a very soft silky feeling that's softer than some high grade natural hair which make achieving an airbrushed look effortless.  This product can be used with any product whether emollient (wet) or mineral based (dry).
