Hydration For Skin With the Winter Blues

Bioelements

If you live where you have to weather a cold season, then you know all too well the toll it can take on your face.  This time of year I see a lot of clients who suffer from dehydrated skin caused by the cold and wind outdoors, and the dry heat indoors.  One way to rehydrate skin in need is to add a gel mask to your regime during the winter/spring season.  Gel masks will cool, sooth and infuse the skin with water leaving the skin plump, and soft as a baby’s bottom. Here are a few gel masks that I love working with.

Astara: Golden Flame Hydration Mask- Contains Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Cucumber and Chamomile to sooth. Hyaluronic Acid helps draw and bind moisture to the skin. Leave on for 30 minutes then rinse, or can be left on overnight. It’s great for all skin types. Price: 2 oz. Jar $44.00 and 1.3 oz. Jar $31.00 Available at: www.astaraskincare.com

Peter Thomas Roth: Cucumber Gel Masque- Contains Cucumber and other plant extracts to soften the skin, Sodium PCA to help bind moisture to the skin and prevent dehydration.  Allantoin, Chamomile, and Aloe Vera help to calm and sooth.  This is a quick 10 minute mask.  For a cooler application which is appreciated on sunburn skin, store your gel mask in the refrigerator.  It can be used by all skin types. Price: 5.3 oz. Jar $45.00 Available at: www.peterthomasroth.com

Bio Elements: Gel Therapy Hydrating Mask- This mask contains essential minerals for healthier looking skin.  Plant extracts help strengthen, and balance the levels of water and oil in the skin.  It’s also great for all skin types including sensitive skin.  Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse using twice weekly. Price: 2.5 oz. Jar $38.00 Available at www.bioelements.com

* Using a gel mask is a quick way to address surface dehydration that you may experience occasionally. If you experience on going dryness, then it is time to graduate to a richer moisturizer.
